The 2021 Global Intellectual Property Index, published by the US Chamber of Commerce, has ranked the UK joint highest for its performance on trade mark protection, achieving the maximum score across the four indicators: term of protection; protection of well-known marks; exclusive rights; and frameworks against online sale of counterfeit goods. The full report can be viewed here.

The Index covers 53 economies who between them contribute over 90% of global GDP.

The report states that economies with effective IP systems are 38% more likely to attract venture capital and private equity and have double the innovation output.

The UK was recognised for its sophisticated national IP framework and its overall strong cross-sectoral enforcement environment.

This is fantastic news and confirms the importance of utilising the UK's intellectual property system for protecting and enforcing brands. It's the fourth consecutive year that the UK has been ranked so highly.
