Interesting news! For the first time, Netflix’s viewership figures in the UK will be measured by an external body – Netflix has signed up to the UK TV ratings agency Barb and its figures will be available as of next month. This could mark an exciting shift in the way streaming platforms, which have traditionally been reluctant to disclose their viewership figures, disclose the success (or lack thereof) of their content. We will be watching keenly to see how the availability of this data impacts commissioning decisions and of course how it plays into the upcoming launch of Netflix’s new ad-supported tier.
